Love others as well as you love yourself. Matthew’s Gospel, Chapter 22 verse 39

Courageous Advocacy

Biscuits at break

In the summer of 2021 while we were still in Class Bubbles we held our first full school event with ‘biscuits at break’ in aid of The Lemnos Dog Shelter. It was amazing to have all the school active in one event across that breaktime. The Herons class organised and held this act of Courageous Advocacy.

Operation Christmas Child

In the Autumn of 2021 we supported Operation Christmas Child, making up shoe box presents for children who only receive these gifts at Christmas. The Herons class organised and held this act of Courageous Advocacy.

RNLI

In the Spring of 2022, still very much in Class Bubbles, we held a welly walk around our school grounds. KS1 were all learning about people who help us and decided to support the RNLI, an emergency service run with many volunteers and no actual national funding. It was also our way of showing thanks to The Archdeacon of Meirionnydd, who is a Volunteer on his local Lifeboat in North Wales and who delivered Collective Worship to our school via Teams during the Covid Outbreak. Before the Welly Walk went ahead The Archdeacon took Collective Worship from his local lifeboat station giving everyone a guided tour of the Station and going aboard and showing us all the actual lifeboat. The Woodpeckers class organised and held this act of Courageous Advocacy

Boxes of Hope

In March 2022 our school decided to support ‘the boxes of hope’ appeal to support Ukrainian people displaced by the conflict that started when Russia invaded The Ukraine.

Collecting aid and writing/ drawing notes to go out to those in need at such a difficult time. The whole school was involved, but Mrs Holliday made the arrangements and co-ordinated our multi drop offs of provisions at the local warehouse collection point.

Supporting Ex-Service people

Autumn 2022 while UKS2 were learning about the First World War The Falcons class made contact with a local charity involved with retired and unwell local Service people. All the children in school made Poppy related gifts to give out to these people who we all owe so much too.

In a very moving Collective Worship our gifts were collected by Ex Service people to give out to those who their organisation supported. They said our gifts would give joy and happiness to those who would receive them.

Kindness Corner

During Spring 2023 The Herons class set out up a Kindness Corner – Bring what you can, take what you need. Supporting our school during the ‘Cost of Living Crisis’ Items included food, clothing and toiletries.

Swap Shop

In the summer of 2023 The Doves class decided to set up a book and toy Swop Shop, enabling children to recycle their toys and books with different ones offered at the Swop Shop.
