Welcome to Eagles Class

As the new school year gets underway, have a look at some of the fantastic activies Eagles Class did last year.

Summer Term

D&T

Y6 children in Eagles class had a great time exploring electrical equipment to make circuits with bulbs that lit, buzzers that sounded and switches that turned elements of the circuit on and off.

Sports Week – WB 13.06.22

Eagles Class had a great time during Sports Week. They had the opportunity to try out a range of different sports including softball, kurling (a real favourite!) rugby and archery. They also took part in Sports Day on the Friday and were fabulous helpers, organising members of their team and setting up the races for their peers.

Church Schools’ Festival

On Monday 27th June, our oldest children in Year 6 were invited, by the Diocese, to attend the ‘Y6 Leavers’ Service’ at Lincoln Cathedral.

The children got to visit the brand-new Education Centre, explore the exhibitions, sing in the Chapter House, tour the cathedral and be part of a Church Schools’ Service in the Nave.
As always, the children were a credit to the school, demonstrating our core value of respect.

Autumn Term 2

This half term, the children in Eagles class have been studying Mountains. We looked at mountain ranges around the world and in the United Kingdom and learnt about how they are formed. This topic included trying to reach conclusions about the disappearance of Mallory and Irvine, who attempted to reach the summit of Mount Everest.

Literacy was based around a film clip of Danny MacAskill, who rode up ‘The Ridge’ on the Isle of Skye, on his mountain bike. The children produced some wonderful pieces of descriptive writing and wrote emotive diary extracts.

The children also had the opportunity to take part in the St Nicholas’ Christmas Fayre Lantern Parade. They thoroughly enjoyed making their lanterns, as you can see from the photographs.

Lanterns

On the 30th of November, children in year 5 and 6 made lanterns ready to parade through Holbeach during the Children’s Lantern Parade on the 3rd of December. The children were very creative and had a great time making them.

Maths

The children in Eagles Class enjoy working together to solve maths problems.

Battle of Britain – Autumn Term 1

This term, children in Eagles Class have been studying the Battle of Britain. In order to answer questions such as, ‘How serious was the risk of invasion by Nazi Germany in June 1940?’ ‘What did Hitler need to do if an invasion was going to succeed?’ and ‘Why did Britain win the Battle of Britain?’ they have carried out some evidence-based learning. The children have examined a range of images and discussed the significance of each in relation to the question posed.

Recipes

In design & technology this term, the children in Eagles class have been researching and planning recipes based on the resources available to us, and their nutritional value. They had a fabulous time making apple cookies to their chosen recipes. The children then tasted and evaluated their end result.
